Propane Tank Covers

These days, almost every home in the country has one or more propane gas grills, or heats their home with propane gas. In many homes, both of these apply. Naturally the use of propane gas in your home calls for a propane gas tank to be situated closely to your home. Many times the propane gas grills are kept on a deck or porch, or in a garage. The small propane tanks are usually attached to that grill. For propane used for heating, larger tanks are placed in the yard adjacent to the home. In some instances, these larger tanks are buried in the ground, with only the top part being left exposed for ease in refilling the tank by the gas company. When propane gas was initially introduced for use, people were so impressed with the convenience of the new fuel, that they didn't really consider the tanks to be unsightly.

Through the years, homeowners came to feel that the propane gas tanks were an eyesore in their yards or on their decks and porches. They came up with various and ingenious ways to camouflage or hide the propane tanks, or to make them more pleasing to the eye and to blend in with or compliment the landscape around them.

Some people built walls of lattice or some other material around their large propane tanks or planted large shrubbery around them in an effort to make them less noticeable or visible to visitors and passersby. Some of the more creative ones have been known to paint their propane tanks to resemble animals or automobiles, or perhaps other things which depict their personal interests. There are almost as many ways to decorate or disguise propane gas tanks as there are people who wish to do so.

In more recent years, companies have begun to realize the potential profit that could possibly be derived from designing, producing, and marketing propane tank covers. Because of that, many companies have added propane tank covers to their line of products for distribution. These covers can be found in almost any design or color desired, to fit in with any outdoor decor.

For the propane gas grill tank, these covers may be designed to depict a favorite sports team logo. They are made in the team colors and may be imprinted with the team name or mascot. They can be purchased in a design depicting one's favorite racing team. There are an unlimited number of designs to be found. Some companies who produce these propane tank covers will even customize covers as desired by an individual or business. Propane gas companies or other companies may provide these covers, with their company logos printed on them, for advertising purposes. They may give these to their best clients and customers to show appreciation for their patronage.

In addition to improving the appearance of a propane gas grill tank, these covers can serve to provide a degree of protection from weatherization. With age, the paint on the outside of these tanks can begin to flake off and eventually they may begin to rust. With the use of propane tank covers, the tank will be protected and the life of the paint job will be prolonged.

Other types of propane tank covers are designed for the larger tanks which are buried in the ground. Companies will not allow the tank to be completely buried because of the inconvenience of refilling them. The dome part on the top is left protruding from the ground for ease of access. This part of the tank can be just the right size to cause an accident by being backed over by a vehicle or tripped over in the dark. Additionally, even though these domes have covers over them to protect valves and such, these will weather also over a period of time.

Larger covers are marketed to cover these domes. One type of cover that is available is made to look like a large boulder. This cover sits down over the dome, and is lightweight for ease in moving. It is large enough so as to be easily visible and sturdy enough to withstand wear and tear. There are several different types of finish in which they can be obtained. There are numerous choices concerning color and the type of stone from which they appear to be constructed. These covers are much more economical and environmentally safe than having to refill a propane tank because a vehicle accidentally ran over it and damaged the valve, allowing the gas to be released.

Propane tank covers may be purchased in many hardware stores. They may be purchased from countless online sites, and found in specialty stores. They make useful and unique gifts for all occasions and are sure to be most appreciated by the receiver.
